ALLERGY
Achooo! As soon as the pollen starts floating through the air, more than 1.5 million Dutch people start suffering from hay fever. The sneezing, sniffling, and tears are your immune system’s reaction to what it identifies as a foreign substance (allergen). However, the substance itself may not be harmful at all! From dog hair to wasp venom, from peanuts and paracetamol to perfume, different allergies trigger different reactions. Why one person becomes allergic to certain things and another doesn’t is unknown. And aren't we all allergic from time to time — like when someone’s getting on our nerves, for example? (wink, wink).
